Ever since we decided to use the reputation system, pos-reps and neg-reps have been exchanged regarding any number of things. I think it has helped improve content. And not just from the possibility of a neg-rep on a shitty post. The rep system itself and the use of it have spurred content. I like reputation and use it more so to give pos-reps than negative.

There are some individuals on this board that seem to take it way too seriously. A repeat offender that immediately comes to mind is Mr. Blonde.

Here is his latest faux pas.

I honestly don't like much of what you post on the "Electronic & Instrumental Music" thread. Once in a blue moon I might voice my dislike of a song you post, but I don't recall ever neq-repping you for anything on there simply because I didn't like it. I don't often give out negrep at all.

So one neg-rep is enough to make you act as though I stomped on your sand castle? Enough for you to retaliate and rage-rep with reckless disregard?

Perhaps I just don't take reputation seriously enough. You tell me.

I've had a similar problem with Mr. Blonde regarding reputation. I very rarely neg-rep someone. Conversely, I give out pos-rep like candy, perhaps even too much. I'll put my pos-rep to neg-rep awarded ratio up against anyone except maybe Orgazmo (not sure) (minimum 75 reps given). So when I neg-rep someone, I usually feel that it's deserving since it typically takes a lot to get me to neg-rep someone.

One person I have noticed cannot handle a neg-rep is Mr. Blonde. In fact, there have been instances where I gave an entirely deserving neg-rep to Mr. Blonde, and he neg-repped me back on some random post I made just because he was butthurt about it. It's very aggravating as I feel basically any neg-rep I've given out was justifiable.

I don't really know or care how the rep system works, but lately I have been using the pos-rep a lot, it's a good way to tell people something was insightful or funny without having to make a otherwise pointless post.

I also give out far more posrep than negrep, and the person I negrep more than anyone is you f3lix. Why? See the first sentence of this post. When you make a dumb ass fucking post (usually bringing me up somehow out of no where) I will neg rep you. You're the one who gets butt hurt by receiving negrep from me and then retaliate by negrepping me. You are a baby, f3lix. A grown man-baby.

Blonde I think the differences that myself and ninjaface (and maybe others) are trying to smooth out here is that we never neg-rep someone for the sole purpose of getting back at them for neg-repping us whereas you do seem willing to do this which bothers some since it goes against how the rep feature was meant to be used.

Your definition of "taking it seriously" seems a bit skewed. I don't place much importance on the use of the reputation system. If I did, I would have thought long and hard about how my decision to neg-rep you might hurt your feelings.

This made me curious, so I did a little research. Below, you will find a breakdown of both positive and negative reps given. The only criteria is that the user has given at least 20 reps. The niceness is simply the +'s divided by the -'s.



The "all time" chart is quite skewed, though. At the beginning of rep, there was quite a bit of backlash (*ahem* BDH) and some testing and shit with everyone dipping their toes into the proverbial waters. Because of that, not all reps given came from the heart.

The "recent" chart below starts at Jan 1, 2009, just over a month after rep had been introduced and, based on the rep comments around that time, after all of the bullshit had settled down. Because of that, it is the more accurate chart.

I find it funny that Der Harry has anything to say about reputation, considering that from what I've seen, he's been one of the biggest bitches about negrepping someone just because they've either A: said something mean about his dumb ass, or B: negrepped him for being a dumbass. For a former member that assumed a new name, he seems to get his ass indirectly kissed quite a bit, imo.

A. By the numbers, it is clear that I deal out far less reputation, both positive and negative, than you and several other members.
B. While my ratio of positive to negative is lower than many members, I still gave out 1/4th the amount of negative reps that Mr. Blonde did.

In closing, Mr. Blonde, I think you should reconsider your practice of negrep retaliation.

As the chart shows, I give out neg rep like its candy at Halloween. Partially to offset posrep inflation, partially because neg reps are necessary to make pos reps valuable. Also sometimes you guys post shit that is retarded. I think more negrep from everyone should be dished out, also more rep period. Also the amount of effort or cleverness that goes into a scheme or post necessitates the amount of pos rep deserved.

This logic doesn't make any sense. The purpose of creating a ratio is so that the data can be compared with a discrepancy in data points between people.

In short, you're not a very nice person and you are relatively negative.
