First episode was great. Agree that they're laying it on with Joffrey unnecessarily thick.

Only character I don't think was a good choice was Stannis. I actually thought Davos was Stannis at first. Not how I imagined him at all.

Finished A Feast For Crows and just started A Dance with Dragons. I didn't realize how much I missed Tyrion until he came back. I sort of hope there's some kind of intellectual, manipulation battle between him and Littlefinger, but we'll see.

I would say watch after as well, though I've heard that watching before makes it easier to remember all of the characters. There's way too fucking many, and most of them also go by at least one nickname.

Jaime, I think not counting the obvious "made for the reader to like" characters of Tyrion, Arya, and Jon Snow, is my favorite character in the books. The way he changes throughout the book, and the way it's shown why he is the way he is in the first place (a spoiled cocky dick), is extremely interesting IMO

I totally agree. I'm still in the beginning of the 5th book so Jaime hasn't appeared again, but I'm looking forward to seeing what's going to happen. The last I heard of him, he was still out fucking around with the Freys. The hopeless romantic in my kind of wants him to hook up with Brienne. Martin is sort of foreshadowing that but it might be a feint. My guard is up.
