I didnt see a single black person in Nobelsville or Fishers. Although I saw some kind of Mexican-Pakistani war baby of some sort. But when I stopped at the gas station on highway 40 on the way in, there were enough niggers there to re make boyz in hood and New Jack City at the same time.

I bought a house about three blocks west of Broad Ripple Ave last November and live there when I'm not traveling for work. For roughly the five years prior to the house purchase I hadn't spent much time in Indianapolis and really had no opinion of the city. Now that I'm there more often, I have to say that I'm impressed with Indy's quality of life and the direction the city is going. First, Broadripple is a cultural gem relative to anywhere else in Indiana (exception being Btown) and the downtown/Mass. Ave area seems like it's constantly being developed and improved upon. Second, Indy is a phenomenal sports city. The new Big Ten football championships will be held there, and every other year the Big Ten basketball tournament is held there. These events, combined with the NFL combine, the races (Indy 500, Brickyard, and Moto GP), the swimming and diving championships, Colts/Pacers, a Super Bowl, and the half marathon (the nation's most-participated in half marathon) really add value to the city. In June I hit up an Indianapolis Indians game for the first time; $9 lawn seats, cheap beer, and the stadium was 3/4 full. It was a great atmosphere. Third, the job market in Indy is one of the best in the country, with tech companies like ExactTarget, Angie's List, Delivra, and many others rapidly growing. The Indiana Economic Development Corporation (IEDC) is a semi-private semi-public organization that attempts to attract businesses from other states and countries to Indiana by highlighting Indiana's generous corporate tax incentives, and many companies have relocated to the Indianapolis area. Other notable items: The Indianapolis Int'l Airport is new and impressive, and Indy drew San Francisco's director of tourism way from SF because he felt Indy has viable potential to be a great conference city and tourist destination. Finally, and most importantly, the biggest draw to Indy is the low cost of living. It's really a great deal.

It's all relative; for Indiana Broad Ripple is about as cultural as it gets, especially if you get a street or two away from the strip.
One thing it has over Btown is that it has a bit more genuine urban grime, my gym was in a dirty old warehouse of some sort with a car garage in the back. |

![]() The basis of our governments being the opinion of the people, the very first object should be to keep that right; and were it left to me to decide whether we should have a government without newspapers, or newspapers without a government, I should not hesitate a moment to prefer the latter. But I should mean that every man should receive those papers and be capable of reading them. ![]() |

I guess thats probably a fairer statement. When I think of Broadripple, I rarely remember its more than just one street

Beebs articulated what I was trying to say about Broad Ripple far better than I did. Broad Ripple's attractiveness is relative to the rest of Indiana. It ain't half bad when you consider the amount of attractive women that live in and around the neighborhood, how late the bars stay open, the (relatively) great selection of ethnic restaurants and craft breweries, and how cheap everything is. The Lincoln Parks and Marina Districts and Georgetowns are all awesome neighborhoods within larger cities, and I would enjoy living in every single one, but I've found most people that live in these trendy big-city neighborhoods tend to limit themselves to the same bars, grocery stores, restaurants - essentially a geographic area the size of Broad Ripple - anyways, and spend a ton of money doing it.
Just my opinion, and I say all this without ever having lived in a trendy big-city neighborhood.... |

Walked into the Sunken Ship (or something) and it was great. Dive bar feel + great beer selection. Fantastic combination.
Then the Upland tasting room across the street. Six Upland brews of draft for a reasonable price and a nice acoustic guitfiddle + cello duo covering pop tunes. Hard to beat. All in all, two places I didn't know existed yet both far exceeded expectations. Five out of five hams awarded. ![]() |

Interestingly enough, Marquette and Btown made this list.
