This may be the best and/or worst idea I've ever had... granted I've been drinking.
Me: 5' 10'', 160 lbs. Consistent drinker throughout university, mostly due to girls and boredom. Not a true IU-black-out drunk, but I can hold my own. Drink of choice: kentucky straight bourbon, neat. You #1: American Nubblite Elder. Someone who enjoys alcohol and pointless pissing contests. You #2: Common English drunk. Just for variety, juxtaposition, and humour. You #3: Any asshole who's dumb enough to keep pace with alcoholics on both sides of the pond. THE CHALLENGE: We three, or four, in real time, will try to drink each other under the table, much to the entertainment of our fellow nubblites. RULES: Using a combination of text posts every 15 minutes + videos ever 60 minutes (hopefully, if possible) we'll keep our fellow assholes abreast to our drunkenness. Of course we'll need Orgazmo to solidify the rules and such. Can you cheat, sure, if you're a piece of shit. But no true alcoholic I know would willing throw away liquor or knowingly emasculate himself when it comes to drinking contests. I'm sure you'll want to bitch about the specifics for weeks....but let's shoot for the next couple weeks while most of us have time off for the holiday. We'll need a common drink. If you suggest vodka, piss off. Same with rum, tequila, liqueur, brandy, or other such drink. Gin or whiskey. If you can't agree to these terms, let me reiterate, piss off. It has to be something we can all drink. I'm thinking Jack Daniels or Famous Grouse. I drink lots of Jameson and Bushmills, but that's making it too easy. I'd really like to go with Old Crow or the like, but I know that's not too common internationally. I need input from interested parties. If I had my druthers it'd be Evan Williams to balance price, kick, and quality. Last man standing wins. The coherency of our posts will attest to our relative sobriety. This is all still conjecture, but let's find a way to make this work. Are you drunk as you read this? Step up, bitch. |

Beam would be my drink of choice which everyone knows. I have found a cheap whiskey that goes down solid. Evan Willams. Bourbon and myself don't sit w pell, but I will drink it if a challenge is presented. I did drink quite a bit of beer tonight @ wings for the Colts game. Was amazed at my semi sobernesss.

Wow I didn't know that the EW was a bourbon. No wonder I've been a mess since I started drinking it. I still value my drinking abilities and would win this contest. I think a case race would be more benificial to me, but I won't shy away from the hard shit either. UB, what are the odds on this drinking fest??
FYI, I'm hammered while typing this! ( The Colts played tonight) 6 Pitchers of beer, and EW in my system right now. The medium, Varsity Blues the movie. Damn what an amazing motion picture. |

Beer is volume. Rate/tolerance is based more on physical size and stomach capacity.
Whiskey, on the other hand- a man's drink- will get you pissed whether yr small or large, give a consistent drunk, and lead to much more hilarious results. In my opinion, a much better yardstick. |

I'm in.... I'll drink wild turkey american honey gobble, gobble, gobble!
I think Beer is a much better way to do this though. We could have a race to 12, 15 or whatever. Video/picture evidence would be much easier to do, jmo. |

if only this had been suggested a year ago. unfortunately, I've sworn off whiskey. at one point, I was drinking a handle and a half of rotgut a week.
Shaw, you may want try Ten High if you're looking for decent cheap bourbon, I switched over after drinking EW for a long time. |

Evan Williams is a cheap Jim Beam. I actually like it better nowadays.
Ten High is at least "whiskey" as opposed to "whiskey flavored neutral grain spirit", but Old Crow if far superior to all bottom shelf options. Stabmaster, I'd love to have your hat in the ring. What are you drinking nowadays? Honestly, I thought this would end up being me and one other fellow drunk. But if we can find a way to get every casual drinker on board....well, the more the merrier. I've been thinking a beer can race to 30 might be a better idea than killing a bottle of whiskey. First to down a block wins. Thoughts? |

I don't want to hear hero stories from all of you that I can do this and that drinking lets be honest. Not one of us could come close to drinking 30 beers in any sort of reasonable amount of time.

Good call on the girl/job reasoning though. I finally got a job that I really like, no more long hours and stress = less drinking. Girlwise, a little over 10 months ago, I met someone that completely changed my life.

Let me clarify.
I don't think you, or any of us, can actually drink 30 (12 oz) cans in one sitting. But consider that the high bar. Who cares if we actually make it there, most still pass out halfway through, much to the humor of the witnesses. We need some sort of standard. If we make the limit 24 hours, well fuck, I can process a lot of booze over that time period. Likewise, if we use a six-pack as a standard...well then it's more about who can drink 6 beers the fastest, not necessarily who can hold the most. I want this contest to be about overall tolerance. Intoxication is directly proportional to body size + ability to process it. This contest needs to balance both. That's why I like whiskey over beer. A 300 dude can fill his fat stomach with twice the volume of beer that I could...I'd puke cause my stomach is full. But if it's whiskey, and everyone takes a shot every 10 minutes. Well, then sir, we'll have people dropping like flies, and only the strongest liver will survive. |

Psychedelics are illegal not because a loving government is concerned that you may jump out of a third story window. Psychedelics are illegal because they dissolve opinion structures and culturally laid down models of behavior and information processing.
