COME ON YOU YANKS

Small update from my end: I had damn near a full BTC taken from my betting account at nitrogensports. My fault for not enabled 2 factor authentication, but it stings nonetheless. It led me to put all of my BTC into a hardware wallet (Trezor) that I keep in a safe.
A $130 investment, but it means someone would have to break in => find the trezor => steal it to have access to my coin AND THEN still figure out my PIN. Definitely worth it for the peace of mind. |

I do. I previously sold off a chunk of it to pay off a credit card. Definitely would have been better off not doing that, seeing as how I had just over $100 worth of btc left after the withdrawal, and that amount is now worth over $500.

Sold off all my bitcoin. Bought 2 Litecoin.
Although I was super late to the game, I invested a total of $349 into bitcoin and got out just under $1000. Pretty good investment overall. |

Ya. When it split from BTC, any holder of that amount of BTC auto got the same amount in BCC.
So, basically, if you had 1.5 BTC, you also, automatically, had 1.5 BCC. Pretty nice. Some people insta sold. I'm going to just hold it since it's unclear what's going to end up happening. Seems like an easy hedge on the off chance that BTC crashes and BCC becomes the go-to currency. |

Good call Gaz. There’s a chance BCC could take off. I didn’t know they were giving free coins though. There are some other coins that sound promising. I hear a lot of chatter about LINK, although my sources are mostly idiots. I wish that son of a bitch FC would give us his thoughts on the next big coin. I’m gonna neg rep him now for fun.

It's not that they were giving free coins, it's that BCC came from BTC. That means that the date BCC "forked" (spawned from BTC), it's entire future from that point was unique. But it's history before that point was identical to BTC (because it was copied from BTC).
It's an odd concept, but it means that everything that had happened to BTC before BCC spawned had also happened to BCC. So...if you have previously allocated 1.5 BTC, it means you had also allocated 1.5 BCC. It then just became a matter of "claiming" that BCC (which was a bit convoluted, but easy enough). Ya, there is all sorts of politics going on with both sides. It seems like BTC and BCC have a loose inverse relationship, though. They're both slowly rising, but, as one rises sharply the other falls. Obv, since I didn't sell either, I sorta want them both to just go to the moon. |

Interesting stuff. You seem pretty knowledgeable about these. You know how volitile this market is? Big money to be made day trading these fuckers. You can use technical analysis to make the right moves. I think that’s because lots of people use technical analysis so it becomes a self fulfilling prophecy. TA is not hard. I’m thinking about giving it a shot in six months or so.

I racked up $12k in credit card debt by investing throughout the climb over the last year, as bitcoin was increasing at 6x the rate of my owed amount. Only time in my life I did that, but it has paid off big time. Not advising that, just stating that it’s an option.

I’ll add that I had investments in other things that I chose to not sell, as they were also increasing at 3x more than my CC bill. It finger my credit 150 points over a year, but was instantly fixed when I finally paid it off in full.

I have a six month plan to get out of most debts. Thankfully 99% of my debt outside of home and car is 0% interest installment shit. Still, it adds up. It’s been an experience that’s for sure. Thinking about the debt makes me sick. I don’t ever want to be in this position again. My plan once I get out of debt is to stop buying frivolous bullshit and start buying cold hard gold and silver. Bitcoins are too complicated and risky for my taste.
