![]() The basis of our governments being the opinion of the people, the very first object should be to keep that right; and were it left to me to decide whether we should have a government without newspapers, or newspapers without a government, I should not hesitate a moment to prefer the latter. But I should mean that every man should receive those papers and be capable of reading them. ![]() |

This is a good idea.
Here are the top 50 posters with their statuses as far as I know. Almost all of the "Unsure" items are people I don't know. The bulk of the "No" people are those I've vaguely seen on Facebook in the last year or so and/or have not heard about them dying. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...rnA/edit#gid=0 Based on this, Nubblies' death rate is ~6% |

Thank you for assembling this. Curious that silverteioh is outside of the list. Probably there are a handful more we don't know about, 1 time posters. It's surreal how many we have lost.

This table is pretty interesting. It shows a random US-based individual's odds of dying in the next year based on age & gender: https://www.ssa.gov/oact/STATS/table4c6.html Some interesting notes (using males as the benchmark): * A person's odds of dying in the next year gradually decrease until they are 10. Makes sense. It's most likely for a newborn to die than a 1 year old. A 1 year old and 2, etc. * At age 59, you officially have a 1/100 chance of dying in the next year. That jumps to 1/50 at 69, 1/20 at 79, 1/10 at 86, and if you make it to 107 (only 1 in ~3.5k males do), it's a coinflip if you live another year. | |
