Yea another awesome feature (and maybe you hinted at it with girlfriend rent transfer?) is the Chase Quick Pay where you can send money to anyone knowing just their email address for $0 in fees. I've been using that feature to transfer money to people who can then transfer that amount to me at an online poker room. Super convenient.

It's a pretty decent start, and that's only assuming a very conservative figure of an average of $500.
In any case, I don't think most people are switching to "collapse banking system". They're just sick of the bullshit banks have to offer. |

A credit union is a bank sorry piss in somebodies cereal, but this is just another example of "they don't know what they're protesting." |

Credit unions are quite different from your traditional banks. But I get that you're new at finance and all, so I'll clarify and type very slowly so you can understand.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I'm sick of fees that Chase and Bank of America are implementing and am disappointed with the fees that apparently have always been in the fine print, but I was not aware of as I usually always had a minimum balance or direct deposit. I am frustrated with the lack of other ways to get around these fees being that I am mostly unemployed. I don't like that their main interests seem to be increasing the dividends of their stockholders, of which I am not. Because of this, I am switching to a Credit Union, which is owned by it's members, thus controlled by it's members, and has much easier ways to avoid fees or doesn't implement them at all, as it is not primarily focused on making profits. , there are less branches, but that's okay, because there is one right down the street anyways.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Quote:
I hope this has been educational for you. I see absolutely, positively fuckall reason to have a Chase bank account right now. | |

"Credit Unions are quite different from traditional banks."
LOL WUT? Last time I checked both accept your deposites and make longer term loans against these. Whether you call it shares or account balance, the effect is the same. The terminology is merely symantics. |

Ok.
We're talking in context of "making the banking system collapse." Moving money from one banking institution (stockholder banks with deposits) to another banking institution (credit unions with shareholder deposits) will have no effect systematically. They both engage in banking and both do the same fvcking things with the money. Don't be so naive. They're all the same. |

Accidentally stumbled upon occupy fort worth on Friday afternoon. I almost missed it. There were 5 or 7 people there. If it weren't for the sign I'd just as soon thought they were the run of the mill beggars who are always there.

Until recently (my adult lifetime) many states prohibited branch banking. S&Ls didn't. Credit Unions did not offer mortgages and were very restricted in what the could invest. Additionally, credit unions were severely restricted on who could be a member. S&L kind of ran wild and did whatever they wanted. Now most credit unions are open to anyone and branch banking is perfectly okay. On a non-related note. I still haven't found occupy Dallas. | |

You..you do realize that most rational people, myself included, don't want to collapse the banking system, right? You do realize that that link Mistoffelees posted was from a forum on Reddit called "Circlejerk" where all they do is make fun of the hivemind on Reddit, and only a small minority of crazies probably actually want to collapse the banking system, they just don't want extra fees, and they view the "major banks" as the ones who helped feed the problem of the financial collapse. I mean you get all this right? | ||

Ok then. So if it's just a little joke then you shouldn't flip your lid when I simply say a banks and credit unions are pretty much the same thing in this context.

That's fine, as long as you don't get mad when I say that you and the bankers on Wall Street who devastated the US economy are pretty much the same thing.

No, you don't get it.
Banks and credit unions really do the same things. |
