Not sure if it's exactly the same. Some high speed trains use electromagnets to lower friction by allowing the train to levitate a few centimeters above the tracks. I don't think they are required to be super cold like the object in the video. They use a similar technology in theme park rides like "Superman"(the ride).

I would be highly surprised if they used the resources (extremely high temperatures) and technology revolving around superconductors for train tech in Asia, especially since I've been there and traveled on the high speed trains.
That being said, I know this isn't new technology, but it's still one of the coolest damn videos I've seen. |
