COME ON YOU YANKS
|
![]() I was talking to UB about this awhile ago, and he was right: Getting hooked to a TV show that has been on for a good amount of time is a great investment. I mean, it's like having tens (or hundreds, potentially) of hours of a movie that you can start and stop whenever you want. And, when you download the shit, it's free.
He turned me on to a show called Burn Notice. It follows a burnt (fired) spy who is on a quest to figure out why he was burnt. In the meantime, he does small sidejobs for people in need. Of course, he's a giant badass who is virtually untouchable. It's a little over half way through the third season. Go download it. Just last night, I started watching Dexter. It centers on a forensic specialist who is also a serial killer. He's also a badass in that he's knows everything about crime scenes, so he can be untraceable. Also, he only kills people who "deserve" it. Though I'm only 2 episodes in, it has a shitload of promise. I think it's mid-way through the 4th season. Have you assholes any TV suggestions? |

![]() The show that has been consuming my time recently is Mad Men. It's easily my favorite TV drama of all time behind The Wire (which may never be topped). I'm completely caught up on it now (save for the new episode that aired last night). Complete action-junkies won't like it as much since a lot of the payoff from watching it is appreciating subtleties like character development and social commentary on the 1960s. Fantastic show. I think it's won the Emmy for Best TV Drama in every instance where it could have.
BTW: Start from the beginning. |

![]() If you haven't already...
Weeds Mad Men Breaking Bad It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia ...but I'll just assume you have. EDIT: take UB's advice on Mad Men. Start from the beginning and that show will ceaselessly rock your shit. Definitely one of the best TV dramas ever. |

![]() I never got into it when it was on TV, and i'm almost finished with all 3 seasons of Arrested Fucking Development. This is one of the few shows i've watched that actually lives up to the hype, if you've never watched it before, please download season one at least.

![]() Only drama I watch is Breaking Bad, saw a few Sopranos.
I don't feel any need to watch a show about a spy that got fired, or a doctor that kills people. I heard that weeds was good for the first season but now it's less about mj and more bullshit. Anyone enjoy any anime series? I'm done with DBZ/Gundam wing and i've never really looked into naruto, doesn't look fantasy enough for my liking. For comedy I finished the three series of Drawn Together not long ago, and 'The life and times of tim' |

Anyways, M. Night Shyamannallan is making it into a movie next year, looks to have quite a bit of potential. The only Indian who didn't get fucked over after Slumdog is playing the villain, Prince Zuko.

It's about a Priest who's actually a mechanized super-vampire who feeds on other vampires. It looks a lot like Trigun during normal scenes, but the fight scenes are B.A. Baracus. ![]() ![]()

Burn Notice That thread went over great. I'll be sooooo fucking happy when LOST is done with. Just so it will be over and there will be some semblance of closure as to what the fuck is going on? 1000 ways to die on spike is a guilty pleasure. There was a show that I watched for like a week straight, was about FBI profilers, I think it was called Criminal Minds or something similar. A friend turned me onto It's Always Sunny... and overall, I've enjoyed it.

Downloaded, saw maybe 5 episodes, some funny moments but not really keen of a little bald kid running the show, needs more swords.. trapped in ice for a hundred years seems like a bit of a shitty excuse for a plot too, i'm still early in so i'm sure it will get more complex though.
Fruit : you're clearly clued up on your anime, i've never heard of Trigun or B.A. Baracus But that vampire does look pretty badass, downloaded. |

![]() I'm not re-reading the previous suggestions bc i'm buzzing and pissed off, and also trying to pull a random over via text...
SO, You fuckers need to watch The League which is on FX and is loosely based on a group of friends that play in a fantasy football league and thier shitty lives. Seriously. and Modern Family. Goddamn, that show is good. |

![]() If it hasn't been mentioned already, Sons of Anarchy. This show is on FX every Tuesday night, although the latest season (2) is nearing an end.
Basically, the show follows a small bike club. Overall, the show is pretty damn good, featuring gratuitous violence, sex, and drama. Having watched nearly all the History Channel specials on biker-gangs, I feel as though the creators of this show did their research well... and then compiled all the possible crazy scenarios that have actually occurred within biker gangs into a wonderfully over-exaggerated show. While it's easy to question the realism, I definitely enjoy it. |

![]() Alright might not belong here but I've got milk round my face and I don't give a shit.
There was a show on BBC called monkey nuts, and it was fucking awesome. Here's some clips, dark british humour at it's best, probably belongs in comedy. There's three series that i'll find a torrent for later, probably a lot of refences you won't get, they make this like 3 miles from my house. |

![]() The last week i've been watching a lot of Stargate: Universe. I never really watched the other stargate shows, but this one I like the premise of quite a bit. Basically they've finally figured out the "9th Chevron" of the Stargate (whatever the fuck that means) but they don't know where it goes. They're on a base on another planet 21ly away from Earth and they get attacked by aliens so they have to evacuate the base. Standard procedure is obviously to go to Earth, but they can't dial Earth for some reason having to do with it exploding and instead get the 9th Chevron dialing going. So they all jump in, but they're not the right special ops team for the job, they're just a bunch of scientists, civilians, and a handful of military dudes. I like that part.
Anyways, the stargate goes to a place they don't recognize, and it turns out to be a giant spaceship built by ancient ancient ancient beings. They find their location (a lot of the episodes is spent trying to figure out what the fuck the ship does and how to use it) and they're several billion light years away from earth. Nobody else is on the ship (that we know of...yet...much of the ship is still locked down) But it's unlikely because the ship has been going for so long. They guess that the Ancients sent the ship off on it's own and were going to use the Stargate to enter it once it's traveled far enough in the Universe, but they never did that. Anyways, they're on the ship for limited supplies but the Ancients were vaguely human or human related (of course) so the ship itself is very smart and drops out of Faster-Than-Light travel every once in a while when it detects a planet that has supplies the people on the ship might need. How do they get to the planet, you ask? Other Stargates. It's theorized that OTHER ships were sent out before this one to land on planets, gather resources, and build stargates before heading off to other habitable planets to do the same. It's pretty cool. Pretty dramatic, these fuckers don't really catch much breaks, but I like it. |
Psychedelics are illegal not because a loving government is concerned that you may jump out of a third story window. Psychedelics are illegal because they dissolve opinion structures and culturally laid down models of behavior and information processing.
