Burn Notice ended its 7 year run last Thursday.
My heart hangs heavy in its wake. Hands down one of the most consistently entertaining shows on television. At least I still have the final season to look forward to on Netflix. Currently finishing up the sixth season. |

Burn Notice was a great show. Each episode felt like a self-contained movie with just a fuzz of week-to-week storyline (which grew as the series neared the end).
Without giving any spoilers, the finale last Thursday was extremely fulfilling. A great way for it to end. |

Would be cool to have every episode be a new criminal story (or another longish one, similar to BB style), and Sauls part in it? Actually I am not sure this spin-off is a good idea.

Although I disagree that he isn't as greedy as portrayed. Actually, I'm not sure. I can't tell whether Season 5 has been more about greed or ego. Things get pretty grey at this intensity level.

I'm not sure if I misinterpreted your post, but the phonecall was anything but turning on his family. I think it's one of the most noble things he has done during the entire show. I definitely teared up a bit during that whole scene

Seriously, the show is brilliant. The fact that his level of egomaniacal behavior could have just as easily justified the nature of the conversation is proof of that; Walt is so unpredictable right now. I thought he was just being batshit crazy until he does the whimpering version of Skyler on the phone "Oh no wallt you have to stoooopp, it's immoral, it's illegal!!!" They zoom in on Skyler and you can see her being confused.
If you can, watch it again and notice the subtleties in the conversation from Walt. (I just watched it a second time and it was awesome) Pretty much everything he says is in order to construct a version of the story where Skyler was working for him out of fear, being forced to comply. Add in Marie's hope in her sister, and Skyler is pretty much scott-free from a legal perspective. |

Dude fucking excellent points, Blonde. I was with Gaz in having missed that.
But that explains why he appeared to believe her when she said "no" to there being cops. I was thinking Walt was suddenly just dumb as shit for believing that during an Amber Alert scenario Skyler would just be home alone. Makes so much more sense now. Re: hit hardest, I think it was Hank but not him being killed as I assumed that would be the outcome after last week's cliffhanger (although his last few bits of dialogue were cutting and brilliant) but instead the cloud it put over the rest of the episode with him being dead and Marie and Skyler each coming to terms with that. Like when Skyler gets home and Walt is just... there. How tragic. |

Adding to the conversation thing: You can also see when it clicks to Skyler what's going on and she starts being submissive to Walt, letting him drone on and on. She even asks him directly about Hank even though she already knows the answer.
Also, Walt breaking the phone at the end is a good indicator that he knows the cops are there--another thing I didn't put together during the first viewing. Other interesting tidbit was Hank being buried in the hole where the money used to be, meaning Walt literally dug Hank's grave. This show. This show is the best show. This episode is literally rated 10/10 right now on imdb. |

He did say, though "You won't be seeing Hank again" (or something like that), and I took it as him not taking direct responsibility for Hank's death. Of course, I think he knows he's morally responsible, if he didn't actually pull the trigger.
+ 1 to pointing out that about Walt digging Hank's grave, Gaz. I thought it was a simply a great ad-hoc criminal utility thing, but the symbolism behind it is pretty chilling too. |

Breaking Bad thoughts for last couple episodes: The lottery ticket that Walt has, which used to represent his entire fortune, now marks the grave of his brother in law.
Also, (and i'm hoping they don't do this) -- what if the last 5 minutes of the episode involves somebody reading off the Powerball/lottery numbers and they match the GPS coordinates? Who will have the ticket? |

shitty Breaking Bad thoughts for last couple episodes: Does Walt even have cancer? there has been hardly any mention of it. Skyler is a bitch, I don't know what she was playing at with the knife. Hank was too much of a jobs-worth, Walt said he wasn't in business anymore. Why would Walt care that he was his in-law?

1: yes. It's been mentioned several times that its back. The mention of passing out earlier. The talks to hank, "I won't be around for sentencing." Etc. 2: understandable anger w the thought of Walt killing her brother. 3: because cops always take criminals at their word... 4: Walt still considered Hank family.

The winning formula for a show like Breaking Bad is that it masterfully changes who has the upper hand of any given situation at any given time. The "upper hand" shifts so often it keeps you constantly watching to see who will have it next. Brilliant.
