All the talk of The Wire on this board gets me all randy. I'm going to start watching it again tonight.
To anyone who has yet to watch this show: please do it. And have patience: the show wouldn't be good if they always gave you action sequences and poor dialogue to move things along. I can't decide on my favorite character, there were so many good ones. Omar really was a good one, but I may prefer Avon Barksdale. Snoop was a legend of a character, as well. Honorable mention to Tommy Carcetti. |

She was hot for sure and kind of reminds me of my girl. (Short hair, sexy, yuppy).
Being asked to name your favorite The Wire characters is like being asked to name what pornstars turn you on: no one can stop after naming just two or three. A better question is what characters on The Wire did you not like. My answer is no one because I liked all characters, they all contributed to the show's greatness. Of course, with a gun to my head where I had to name the one character I liked the most, I would name the greatest character ever created: Omar Little. ![]() |

The more I think about him, the less I like McNulty, just in comparison to the other characters. Same for Omar: he's just ever so slightly too much over-the-top.
In fact, Omar might be near the bottom of my list. But it's a fucking fantastic list. |

I was never a fan of McNulty. I thought he was a sad sack of shit. I liked Barksdale's number two guy, though. I thought he was more of a businessman as opposed to your typical, "gangsta-ass nigga" like Barksdale was.

Bodie, solid call FC.
McNulty really disappointed me in the last season. I'm not really sure if the whole fake serial killer scenario was just too out-there, or if his willingness to risk the careers, reputations, and stability of his co-workers, leadership, and gf made me dislike him more and more. I also found Stringer Bell to be unlikeable. If you juxtapose McNulty and Stringer Bell, you find they are the same person; they refuse to let their subordinate position in their respective organizations limit them from achieving what they want. Both have no qualms about circumventing those above them, and both strive for something they don't really understand. |

A customer came in wearing this shirt and I tried to strike up a conversation "thats an awesome shirt" ... he didn't even respond. Then I was sad that such a rude piece of shit was also a fan of such a great show.

Before The Wire, there was The Corner.
The Corner - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia All about junkies in west baltimore, with a guy trying to get clean as the lead. A lot of the actors would later go to The Wire. It's pretty good, I watched it at the time it was on. |

Second the questions: So is it mainly about the junkies? Or does it go into the operations and distribution aspect of it? There were really only four Junkie characters in the entirety of the Wire, and that seemed like plenty ... a show just about junkies seems rough. | |

Just started season 3. The Wire sucks. Jesus Christ I'm forcing myself to keep watching it. Just as I originally stated, it's all about niggers in Baltimore. What's worse is that it's clearly a show made by black people and is very anti-white. Ask yourself, is there one single white character who isn't, in some way, a piece of shit? No, there isn't. I don't know how much longer I can stomach this shit. Good characters? There isn't a single character that I give a fuck about. I can think of at least 5 shows way better than this.

The Wire isn't really the show for cold-hearted Republicans who think all the problems of inner-city blacks are of their own making and not the least bit society's fault/problem. Also, the show was created by white males. Also, you're an idiot.

Your part black aren't you DH? I bet there is a little bit of nigger in you so you are overreacting to show the world how much you hate niggers.
Also: you ever think about politics? I think you would make a great Muncie (or Yorktown) city councilman or something similar. |

It's not that I hate black people, I hate movies and tv shows portraying the white man as a piece of shit. Look at the white characters in this show. We have Mcnulty, who is the only white character worth a shit in the show, and his personal life is completely fucked. Then there's that major's son, who is a complete pushover bitch that freaks out and snaps like a child with no control over his emotions. He is one of the weakest characters in the show. Finally there is the fat ass sergeant who does nothing but sit on his fat ass, crack jokes, and fuck up cases. Let's not forget about the other white characters who are in command, but are nothing but complete dickheads who try to stop the cases from happening.
Now let's look at some of the main black characters. We have Avon Barksdale, who, while he is a bad guy, is also strong, smart, and "cool". The same goes for Stringer Bell, Bodie, and all the other assholes. On the other side you have Lt. Daniels, who is smart, vigilant, and hard working. He has to fight tooth and nail for the cases he wants. He is a leader. He is one of the strongest characters in the entire show. His personal life was pretty good for the first couple seasons, too. Now he's having problems with his wife, but it's not because he's a drunk fucking loser who's banging a bunch of sluts on the side. No, it's because of his work. He is far too dedicated to protecting the citizens of Baltimore. It is his cross to bear, and it only shows his strength. I could go on and on with this pattern, but I won't. I'll end by saying that arguably the two absolute strongest characters of the show are not only black, but they are also faggots. Yes, I'm talking about Omar and Greggs. Certainly I can't be the only one who sees this shit. It's not just The Wire. I see this type of shit in all kinds of movies and television shows. For example, there is some movie coming out about a scientist who designs a prosthetic tail fin for a dolphin and nurses the dolphin back to health. It's based on a true story. The scientist is played by Morgan Freeman. A good actor, no doubt, but you can be fucking certain that the god damn scientist in the real story was a fucking white guy. Hollywood, though, is showing everyone that he was a black guy. |
