So I recently watched a show I'm beginning to enjoy quite a lot. It's called "Decoded" from the History Channel. I'm sure a few of you have at least heard of it. The show focuses on various urban myths and mysteries surrounding our nation's history. A team of people conduct their own "journalistic" type of investigation surrounding these mysteries and come to a conclusion on whether or not they believe or debunk the myth.

The most recent episode I watched was based on the rumor that Fort Knox is empty. Considering the amount of people, both local and abroad, that they interviewed, it seemed pretty clear that almost everyone believes there is no gold in Fort Knox.

Here are the facts:

1) The vault in Fort Knox has not been audited since 1974.

2) The Treasury Dept. has denied pretty much any requests to see inside the vault to confirm the presence of gold.

3) Since 9/11 security has almost doubled surrounding the fort itself.

4) There has been no explanation as to why no one is being allowed inside other than that it is a securty risk.

I admit it, I'm kind of a sucker for conspiracy theories. Not so much because I'm a paranoid fuck, but because I've found that if people are trying to hide something, it's because they're doing something wrong.

For those of you interested I ask, is there any gold in Fort Knox?

Since when is there any controversy about there being gold at Fort Knox? According to Wikipedia,

In the basement of one of the World Trade Centers was a very large vault with large amounts of Gold ... perhaps it was transported to Fort Knox post 9-11 and the security was increased due to the additional risk of terrorist attack and the increased amount of gold.

In Die Hard with a Vengeance the villain, "Simon", robs all the gold stowed away underneath the Federal Reserve of NYC. At first I mistakenly thought it was Ft. Knox because there is a reference to Ft. Knox in the movie, but alas, I was wrong.

I was making a joke that after this movie was made, it scared those in charge of security at Ft. Knox, so they increased security accordingly. It seemed funny at the time I guess.

My Die Hard knowledge is clearly vastly superior to anyone else on this board.

I didn't say it did. I was saying that had the rest of the movie been more like the trailer led us to believe it would be (badass), I would have liked it better today. When I was in high school I loved the first one, though. But that was 10+ years ago.

Deleting the scene was still pretty gay, though. And Spider man 2 wasn't very great, Spider man 3 was just horrible. The reboot is welcome.
