Stayed at my girlfriend's place last night, we decided to watch a DVD. I'm actually embarrassed at how repugnant her DVD collection was. But we ended up watching "Spirited Away" which was pretty good in that fairy-tale anime type of way. One of the characters looked like f3lix.

Really not a bad time travel movie at all. I was pleasantly pleased with it.

Until the end. I was expecting some epic M. Night Shyamalanesque twist and got a dumbed down Sopranos ending. There was an audible sigh in the theatre when the credits started rolling. There was so much potential and they didn't even try. I would have much preferred a massive swing and a miss to the cowardly full-count-no-swing strike out BS I got served up instead. A monster ending could have given it a 4.25/5, a solid ending maybe a 3.9, actual ending, 3.45.

I've been on a big Kubrick kick lately and watched Dr. Strangelove for the first time as an adult. I enjoyed it thoroughly. It's probably my favorite Kubrick film. I laughed and felt satisfied.
