Agreed. It should be noted that the "cameraman" is Billy Wingrove - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia, a professional football freestyler.

The freestyle events involving anything with an engine are scary as fuck. Is there really any room for progression past what's been done?
Don't get me wrong, that this is the first death in X-Games history shows a damn good safety record, and people die in all motorsports, if not all sports period, but you dont fear for the athletes lives in the same visceral way. It's getting hard to square enjoying xgames, boxing, and even football knowing the toll it can take. I watched Gotti-Ward 1 live on HBO, and close to a hundred times since, but it certainly feels different knowing that the fight could have been stopped several times, seeing Gatti take incredible punishment, only to know in the back of my mind his speech rapidly deteriorated into a mumbling slur, and he killed himself in a hotel in Brazil not long after he retired. Where do I fit in as a fan that cheered the damage that turned his brain into jello? There was even a short documentary after one of their 3 fights where Ward complains of double vision a month after the fight. I mean I love a sport that has a form of brain damage named after it, "dementia pugilista", I've seen Ali and Frazier turned into shells of the humans they once were, and can probably point out the punches that did the damage, what does that make me? |

Not sure if this has been posted before but it's pretty enjoyable; all of Messi's 91 goals from 2012. The man averaged nearly two goals per week against mostly world class competition all year, no big deal. It seems like he can pretty much just put the ball wherever he wants to with pinpoint accuracy on any touch. What would be nice is a version of this video that has commentators instead of music but whatever.

God I love sports. Check out this sick walk-off inside-the-park home run yesterday by Angel Pagan. What a great play and great call:
http://mlb.mlb.com/video/play.jsp?content_id=27433597 Can you imagine that adrenaline rush seeing the 3rd base coach waving you in there? And with one out too, pretty risky move by him but love it. If you watch the full clip on the replay they show the 3rd base coach just frantically waving him in and running down the line all the way with him... awesome. |

I had like 20 different people talking shit to me about that, from the game. It's not easy being a dodger fan in northern California (especially when they're shitty). It doesn't matter that I also like the giants, rivalries are rivalries.

The wife killing him was the consensus conclusion on boxing boards when it happened, and I believed it because.......well it's Brazil, but as more time went by it became pretty clear he killed himself. I forget the exact things that changed most peoples mind, but something about the way the marks from the purse were positioned. Also, he wasn't just a boxer, he was a boxer known for his power and toughness, he would have had to have basically helped her do it.

Angel Pagan is awesome in general. On our annual Cubs trip, they played the Giants this year. Pagan being a former Cub was on my radar for heckling. He was hilarious. I got on him pretty good, and he gave it back just as well. At one point, he explained to me how big of a pussy I was because I wasn't pounding my old style. He got after me a couple different times. It wasn't as much fun as having to have Todd Wellemyer escorted back to the dugout by 3 guys, but a different type of fun none the less.

I'm really not in my heckling prime anymore. Before, I would sit and stare at bio's of players and really know their whole story. Now, I don't drink as much and usually I'm not blacked out drunk at games. Some people call it responsibility, I call it boring, but whatever. I was actually confronted at 1 of 3 Komet games I went to this year and questioned as to why I suck as a fan now and days. Said fan said they no long have the enjoyment of a respectable drunk guy heckling. Now it's all these 22 year old punk ass kids that don't know anything about the game. Maybe I'll come out of retirement this year for a game.

Fights Floyd on Sept 14. First Floyd fight I've been actually excited for in years, he actually took the biggest and most challenging fight available since at least Hatton, if not longer than that. Fighters tend to look old very suddenly, and if Floyd shows up off his game at all, there is a very real chance he looses. On the other hand, this has the potential to be a career defining moment for Floyd. Canelo is good enough to force Floyd to go on the offensive more than usual, which is entertaining as shit. If Floyd fights like he fought Cotto, this could be one of those fights that define an era. Stylistically it looks like a decent match, but favors Floyd. Floyd works off a right hand lead a lot of the time, and Canelo leaves his left a little low and turns over his left hooks in a sort of exaggerated way. |
