are conductors really necessary? I'm not trying to be a dick, but they're most just up there for ceremonial purposes, right?

Before a concert, during all the rehearsals, the conductor gets the group to play with a common style, sound, balance, musicality, etc...

During the concert, he works through all the segues, reminds the group of how they are to play and gives a focal point for all players to come in at the exact same nanosecond.

Conductors are actually SO important that there are doctoral degrees in conducting.

This is simply not possible, sorry. Perhaps a fraction of a second, but nanosecond is pushing it, by a LOT. I again am surprised that someone with your caliberton of knowledge does not know this.

Not only this, but, in the video, it doesn't even look like they're responding to you. You move, and then they chime in.

Why do your movements and the music not coincide?

Hate to be captain obvious... but the video and music clearly aren't in synch.

Edit: get to the end of the video and you'll see how out of synch they are.
